Durango shows off his love of nickyBONES Dog Biscuits!

August 16, 2012

My mom and her sisters were meeting Bob and Tanya in New Orleans for the VHPA Reunion. Knowing that they have a Louisiana Catahoula dog named Durango I sent a bog of nickyBONES for Durango to New Orleans with my mom. Bob and Tanya on their return home to Durango in Georgia sent us a video of Durango thanking me for his very own bag of nickyBONES! You can tell Durango is very excited about his nickyBONES!  ~Evan

Hurry, It’s Drooling!

January 10, 2012

December marked our first full year in the "dog biscuit" business" “Hurry, It’s Drooling”, the title of this blog entry, symbolizes how our first year unfolded. Let me explain. The week before this past Christmas we were making dough. Evan always cracks the eggs and then puts the cracked egg shells in a bowl. He calls it his trash bowl. Well he cracked the first egg and realized he did not have the trash bowl in place. He tells me it is not there and I said I would get it. As I  walked ...

nickyBONES Namesake

August 11, 2011

nickyBONES Dog Biscuit Company got its name from our yellow lab Nick whose nickname was Nicky Bones. We found an ad in the local newspaper when we lived on Fort Huachuca, Arizona, announcing labrador retrievers for sale. We answered the ad and found ourselves on Lower Stump Canyon Road in the Huachuca Mountains of Sierra Vista, Arizona. Beautiful country! Nick was just about 4 weeks old when we first met him and his ten litter mates. They were all so adorable! We picked out Nick and told him...

"Teamwork Sides"

April 15, 2011

Evan and I have been talking a-lot about teamwork lately.  But not only he and I working as a team for nickyBONES, but getting your own body to work as a team too. You’re probably wondering what I am talking about. When we started nickyBONES and established a routine of prepping, mixing, cutting out biscuits, preparing bags, I was utterly amazed how Evan would only use one arm or one hand on the task at hand (no pun intended). I had to keep reminding him to use both hands and both arms.  I...

So You Named Your Blog “dustingFLOUR – A Blog About Rolling Dough and Life?

April 1, 2011

So when we started thinking of writing a blog for nickyBONES it just came to me as we were cutting out biscuits that the blog should be called dustingFLOUR A Blog About Rolling Dough and Life!  You see not only are we making great dog biscuits; but also we’re working on life skills in this new business venture of Evan’s.  Endless possibilities to work on!  For example, when Evan puts on and takes off his Baker’s Coat we are working on buttoning skills.  Not an easy task for Evan t...
